I searched the forum and couldnt find anything on the "V2 aem cool air intake." i was thinking about buying one and was wondering what makes it that much better than the original. and also, they say it adds 20 hp and 20 lb ft torque
??? i cant see an air intake doing that, but thats why im asking ![]() |

oops, and also, my friend has one and he said that it v2 is better for non vtech engine because it peaks twice, people with vtech want the original because it kicks in right around vtech... i dont know if this is bull or the truth ...

Hmmmmmm well first its VTEC not VTECH
As for the V2 IMO its not really worth the extra cash! An intakes an intake, and they dont "kick in" nor give you 20 HP ![]()

The V2 give u a little but extra power but i dont think its that much noticeable.. the regular AEM cold air will do fine.

This is from a chart in a TPR (Tuner Performance Reports)
Magazine, one that I'm sure a good bit of you have looked at sooner or later. 1st column is the RPM of the car 2nd column is HP gains at that RPM for the original AEM 3rd column is HP gains at that RPM for the V2 4000 - 0.2 - 1.1 5000 - 3.8 - 3.7 5500 - 0.2 - 5.2 6000 - 2.7 - 5.3 6500 - 2.5 - 2.7 7000 - 2.6 - 5.5 7500 - 5.2 - 4.5 8000 - 3.2 - 1.7 Peak - 4.3 - 4.4 Testing was performed on a 99 Honda Civic SI w/ 37,000miles...Thats what the mag said anyways

I decided to go "Injen" because AEM is too played out for me. Still 50 states legal, and I like the company more.

honestly the most restrictive thing with the factory intake is the filter, the aftermarket one wont change much. if u go with anything i like comptechs ice box even though its on the pricy side
