Hole In Muffler

So it turns my car sounding awful is the result of lots of rust and a hole in my muffler and not an exhaust leak. I was j/w if anyone knew the average price of a muffler for a 97 ex. I was originally just going to wait until the spring and get a whole new exhuast b/c its not really that bad, but I figured with winter right around the corner the cold weather and the snow will just make it worse.

Depends on where you get it done; if you take it to a mechanic it will probably cost you around 1 or 200$. I?m not sure home much a stock muffler costs, I am sure that you should be able to find one relitivly cheap.

I don't have to take it to a mechanic so I just need to purchase one. No idea what 'relatively cheap' is? If its going to cost me an arm and a leg I'm just going to wait b/c I'm going to get a whole new in the spring.

If I were you, I would look on some forum classifieds and post up a WTB thread. So many people change there exhaust systems, you should be able to find someone who has a muffler sitting around. I used to have my old cat to muffler pipe but I took that to the junk yard 2 Saturdays ago.
Tape up the hole if it?s not that bad, until you get the cash to buy an exhaust system. Muffler tape is like 3 bucks.

You can get an OEM replacement rear section exhaust, the pipe that goes over the axle and muffler, list price is $180 at the dealer. It just bolts on and is very simple.
