I have a 99 civic si and i think it is a fuel problem that i am having right now, but my engine cuts out whenever i am accelerating, i thought maybe it was a fuel pressure problem. Does anyone know what my fuel pressure should be at? Or does anyone think they know the problem. I have put so much money into this car trying to fix it, i figure all of you could try and help and if not i guess i will break down and go to a shop of some sort.

have you done any work to the engine or is it relatively stock? if its bogging while you accelerate, it could be any number of things besides the fuel system. a simple tune-up may be all you need, esp. new spark plugs.

Be more specific.

Your fuel system might be clogged, so u should try having a diagnostic test done before jumping to fix something your unsure of. But it could be a number of things like water pump etc....something just not recieving the proper amount of air or fuel and cant keep your eng running. You can cross out your alternater being that it is when you rev it up, not idle. Good luck n let us know.

The fuel filter is probably clogged, try adding some treatment next time you fill up. If it keeps cutting out, you might need to re-adjust the pressure, although that most likely isn't the problem. If the electricity stays on when it cuts out, it is not the alternator and is definitely fuel related

Well I had the same problem as you, only my car cut off when I decelerated. I had to give it gas to stay on...I thought it was fuel related also, but I changed my plugs and wires and it hasn't done it since. It could be one plug not firing enough, or just crappy plugs altogether ?? If you changed them 3000 mi. ago you should be straight though.

Chances are you didn't gap your plugs right when you changed them, try taking them out and replacing them w/ NGK's and please don't use one of those little keychain gappers to gap them, they're always off. The right tool for the job always makes a difference.

well as of a couple days ago my car won't fire at all, i pulled a plug and no firing going on, so i am not sure what is wrong i think i may break down and take it to a local shop here in town, the guy is really good with honda's, and then after she is fixed she is going up for sale.
