Now they say that the d15b from japan is a "direct" swap for the d16z6. Now will aftermarket parts for the d16 such as header, intake manifold, pulley's, etc, fit onto the JDM d15 vtec? THanks

I read on another forum about this and from what I can remember the Header will fit but Im gonna have to say no to everything else until anyone can say otherwise..
If you have a EX why would you want a D15 anyways? Its a gutsy motor but It would be about the same price as a B16 to be dropped in?!?! If you havent already bought this motor I highly suggest weighing out your options a little more before writing a check being that they only come stock 130hp, and the USDM D16z6 comes like 125hp.. 130@6800 D15B 125@6600 D16z6 168@7800 B16a < ownz if you ask me, save your money on the D15 just my 02. |

For the money you will spend to get is shipped overseas you could turbo the existing D16 and be much faster. Or save your pennies and go with the B18C1. Why swap to a smaller SOHC?

True. My SOHC ZC had an OEM LSD transmission on it.

Well since this is my only car, and I need wheels to goto school, and my dad is helping me out, i am goin for the d15 vtec, we are doin this ourselves and we are trying to make it as simple as possible, i just wanted to know if the aftermarket parts from a d16z6 would fit the d15.
Another thing, can you swap out the engine and leave the tranny in the engine bay? |

Aftermarket parts that go with the Z6 will almost all work on the D15B. The main difference between the two is the shorter compression hright pistons and rod length in the D15B. You should be able to use the same intake, header, and cams with the D15B as you would with the D16Z6.
Honestly- if you were going to keep the D, I would just work on your Z6. It has just as much power potential as the D15B. And yes, you should pull the transmission while you're swapping the engine. It makes things much easier. |
