well i'm still deciding on what to do... and i was wondering if it would be worth it if i turbo'd out my 94 si. it still has the origanal engine. D16 V-tec. its got 175,000 klm's and still running strong. the tranny has had it's share of abuse. but it's still good. so what would the gains be like and how much would it cost??

I dont have very much experience with turbo but I do know that you shouldnt turbo a car w/ a worn tranny, High mileage, and so on. I give you credit for wanting to Boost your SOHC but to be honet with you I dont think its worth ALL the money.
someone else will have to quote you for the turbo, Depends what you get on the pricing end of it. If you really wanted to do Turbo on that motor, I say do a rebuild and save yourself the heartache later. |

I'd just go with a B18C swap comparable to the cost of a full turbo setup. or a B16 a little cheaper. A better platform to start with is always good, then boost down the road.

A little more than a turbo would cost him. But hell at least he would have a good start with decent mileage to boost If he wanted to, or even just go all motor. |

personally i think a d16 is worth to boost. wont make insane ammounts of hp but on 7 to 10 psi expect to make around 170 to 200. but with 175,000 miles on your car, your engine/ tranny have seen better days, and turbocharging it will just shorten the life of the car. i say swap it. then u have a decent platform with only a quater of the miles or less and u can always boost it down the road if u want to.

I say do a leak down and compression check and if the numbers are good, than go for it. Why swap if you don't have to. Cheaper and easier to keep what you have and improve on it where needed.

cool guy's!... i think compression check is the way to go, and then just take it from there. if that fails then the b16 is starting to sound good. reasonable price , increase on power, and lots of room to improve on. ok people i'll keep you updated. thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
