i was driving today and it pooped out on me. i called my friend and he said check the ecu codes.

i got a 17 and thats the speed sensor.

so how do i fix this problem?
i mean is there other things to check besides the speed sensor. like is there any fuses, relays, cables?

if you reply thanks.
this is the first time i ever had a check engine light on.

as for the check engine light I dont know, But I remember my tachometer and speedometer not working because the fuse blew out. Id definately check into it first. But this wouldnt cause your check engine light to come on.

well erics vss didnt go bad it was a bad terminal from all that great baltimore rust making resistance in the circuit, but check your connection at the vehicle speed sensor (vss) and make sure everything is A OK

it wasn't just the terminal dan it was the teeth of the vss that sat inside the tranny remember it came apart.

Mine VSS went out on my sedan. It was 160.00 to get a brand new unit installed at the dealership. I'm sure you could very easily do it yourself also.

Always try your fuses first if something isn't working properly. As for the speedo....have you checked your cable to and from the speedo? Inspect the speedo side's connection then check the opposite connection. Also look for any fraying or possible chaffing of the cable itself. 9 times out of 10 it's always something stupid and easy.
