A little more about me and some of the goals and vision of the site.
We have 3 sites in our network now, civicland.com, jdmchat.com and also www.shopresponse.com which is the retail business and have been in operation for over 7 years now. We sale only high end accessories and goods. Again ONLY from top names and and we also specialize in rarity JDM parts. And since we directly import many parts ourselves from Japan, I also have alot of interest in Japan and culture as well. Hence our JDM site. www.jdmchat is geared towards the love of JDM and Japan culture, the site was started only 9 WEEKS ago and we almost already managed 500 members. I myself have been in the Import Industry for over 14 years and know many many people in the industry from customers, members and many others in the business aspect part. I have gained quite a bit of knowledge over the years, mainly from residing in So. Cal the mecca if you will of the Import Industry. I prefer high function and subtle and prestige fashion upgrades to cars, but I respect anyones decision to make their car their own. So this is mainly the reason why we retail higher end goods. I feel it is better to pay a little more for a product and get a quality part and be very happy in the end. CivicLand will be geared mainly as a place to talk Tech and we will also throw some other topics in the mix to make this place a little more fun and relaxed. Our main goal is to keep CL a friendly and warm enviroment where members can talk shop in a respectable manner. We urge all members to participate in threads, joke have fun and express opinions maturely. So if someone asks for opinions feel free to tell them your thoughts good or bad but do it (again)in a mature manner. "flaming" or aggressive comments won't be tolerated. And most importantly there will be no racial nonsense here whatsoever (I doubt that would be an issue with all the dignified members we have already). The site will go through a series of changes little by little so expect a few hiccups in the next few weeks. We will then promote the site and make this site very active soon. Some changes: forums may be reorganized so it is easier to find a specific topic. ie a forum for EF Hatchbacks (88-91) instead of just Hatchbacks which is to vague. I am sure owners of EKs (96-00) will be more interested in EK topics, so navigating will be simpler and easier to find the content you are looking for. Also some member groups may change and added as well. The look, logo, banner etc will also be fine tuned here and there as it is still just a foundation. You may also know that Avatars size increased so express yourself with a larger logo! You will find we move very quickly and implement fast. We won't skimp on the time and resources to put into the sight and the Mod team here will work closely and efficiently as well. On the Modding issue, there will be no halfass Modding here or Mods that intimidate or embarrass members. Our Mod team will be friendly, welcoming, willing to help and answer questions. That way new users or those who just lurk won't be afraid to post. So those who maybe interested in becoming a Moderator contact Clutchone by PM, not required but we prefer those who have experience, the maturity, knowledge and the time. Of course not everyone will be chosen but there will be other groups later on that we will need members to join as well (so users will be kept in mind). There will be Moderators, those who Mod a couple of specific forums, Jr. Moderators which are usually reserved for those who maynot be so experienced but are dedicated and want a chance to join a Mod team. Then there will be Jr. Super Moderators which is very limited and they will work closely with Clutchone. There will only be 1 Super Moderator which is Clutchone. This is a chance to get more involved in your hobby and passion as most forums tend to limit their Moderator team to the Admin's friends or relatives etc. I believe the real loyal members should have a chance at it. So again the next few weeks expect things to be moved, changed, announced and expect bugs and errors. We will usually know about them, but if you think we missed something PM one of us. Daniel |

My Name is Cory, I'm NOT any sort of SuperMod from anywhere.
Got intorduced to CL by an OG member, Sam aka biocac. Been a member of CivicLand for almost 3 yrs, been to MD twice for CL meets. I'm not a Corporate Account Holder I'm an Average, working class Guy From Upstate Central NY No, I do not Know alot of People in the JDM Industry I appreciate JDM (NON US, OEM), parts 29yrs old Engaged to be married 9/07 to the best woman on earth I dont care if you Ban Anyone Here Hopefully CL can retain it's Friendly, close knit Atmosphere and remain CAR related and CIVIC specific. Opening the floodgates to other models may not be a good idea. Bigger is not always better. YES, Im a Rice Hater. Call me what you want, makes no difference to me. No matter how fast your car is, if it is not classy and/or looks riduculous, I'm going to be honest. Some say i am abrasive, i think i am just blatantly honest. I hate the "show scene", trailer queens and overall show, bling bling cars. I could really care less how many subs you have in your car, how many lights you have under it or how you got to fit 20's on your civic. You post pics of your car asking opinions of it, be prepared for not all of them to be positive, you'll just get honest opinions. I like well done, smooth looking daily driven cars! Hopefully the changes for CL will be for the better. Eric did a great job with the site when he owned it, hopefully these new guys can follow his lead. Any further questions or concerns, please refer to member title (under my "AVIATOR", some older CL members will get that ....Welcome to CL bitches!!!!! ![]() |

My name is Brett
I'm no longer a mod at CL I've been a member here since 2001 I'm an average working guy from NorCal, with SoCal ties (lived in SD for 4 years) I know a lot of OG's in the scene...in both NorCal and SoCal. I've been in the scene since about 96. I guess you could call me a tech person, and a hands on person...I've always loved working on my own stuff, and helping friends out with theirs. Swaps, motor builds, etc...whatever fits the bill. I'm almost 25, have owned 3 hondas. 89 Prelude, 97 Integra, and now an 03 S2000. I'm not a big JDM fan when people take it too far. Performance? Ok. Wheels? Sure. JDM cupholders and signal flares go too far for me. For the most part JDM is ok in my book. I'm a rice hater...somebody's got to do it. I speak my mind, which most people appreciate. I could care less what others think of me...I know who my real friends are. You guys look like you're off to a great start...I hope it can get to be like the way it used to be here back in the day, only with more members. I don't care if you ban anybody or make changes as you see fit. Welcome to CL, stay a while.

Ive never been a mod anywhere...I just like to help people. If i see someone making a wrong choice i generally let them know. I guess sometimes im wrong for that but, hey its what i do. I dont like rice at all, jdm, when done right, looks clean...But 6 foot wings sticking off the back of a fwd, and scraping over 2" speed bumps is just retarded. Im almost 24 Ive been build hondas for about the last 2 1/2 years. I have built several 5-900 hp motors, and i love doing it. I wont give away all my secrets but i will help people where i can. I thinks thats about all about me people need to know. |

JDM isn't a fad, it is actually what started the Import Scene back when people started modifying the first generation Integras and pre 88 Civic and CRXs using Japanese parts ie Mugen, HKS, TRUST, Racing Sparco, WORK Wheels, high end parts. Which started in So Cal at street races at Ontario, Sylmar, Carson, Nissei Cruises in Downtown Los Angeles and also at legal race functions such as the old tracks at Terminal Island, Long Beach and the First Battle of the Imports in Palmdale. I am old enough to know this and been there when it started.
I believe your interpretation of JDM is what you see in the movies or what some tend to think it is. JDM is the absolute pursuit for subtle, clean and very functional upgrades utilizing high end parts from Japanese companies. Cosmetic appearance are kept to a minimum and done in a tasteful manner. Yes there are other aspects of JDM in the industry which includes VIP style and Drifting, but as long as there are Japanese Imports, there will be JDM as JDM is inherited from Japan and their ongoing timeless style. Just look back to when Mugen started and made parts for 1st GenerationCivcs and CRXs and now Mugen has retained that perstige value, their parts will never be considered a "fad". This can be said the same for companies such as HKS and Trust the pioneers of performance for Japanese Imports. Drifting will never be considered a fad, sure it is new in the United States and those who see Tokyo Drift and say wow a new style it won't last, but in reality to those who know it has been going stong for a long time in Japan prefectures for over 20 years with Corollas, AE86s, Levins and has kept going till this day. So some who don't know this will think it is a fad and it won't matter to those who really know. Japan companies produce the some of the best parts for Japanese Imports period, and when a enthusiasts exclusively brings these Japanese parts together, they build what is called JDM. Those who just recently learned about it don't know the true history and roots of racing Japanese cars. Anyhow anyone who modifies a Japanese Import has some sort of JDMness in their car one way or another. Whether it is engine parts, suspension, wheels, looks etc. It will be JDM influenced. So in summary. JDM = an an automotive enthusiasts who owns a Japanese Car and modifies it bringing together a collection of only the best parts from Japanese companies. Tell me is that a fad? |

I guess I was referring to like jdm reservoir covers, interior pieces that i don't really see the purpose for. JDM performance parts are ok, but I dont really understand why people pay like 500 bucks for a jdm interior piece that looks almost identical to the usdm ones. But of course, this is MY OPINION and it's just how i feel.
