My front bumper is really phucked up. I wanna get a front lip and then repaint the whole bumper and stock EX side skirts.
If I did it myself I could save myself $250 and have the satisfied feeling of doing something myself or be very angry at the crappy job I did. What are the tools needed for this job (+ sanding) and do you reccomend me to just spend the money to get it done right or save and do it myself and see how it goes. I am a noob at painting fyi. Thanks, Azn |

Painting is not terribly hard, but it is something you need to learn to do hands on before you start doing it.

I worked at a performance body shop for a summer.. all they do is custom work/paint..
I swept the floors and cleaned up.. Santed/stripped cars.. and by the end of the summer i was doing primer and sealer and wet sanding it down.. Probably could have done paint too. Still i rather pay people that do it for a living then try and do it myself.

Also if you ask around enough, there is always a paint and body man who will do it on the side alot cheaper. I have a guy in the KC. MO area that even gives a year warranty with his work and his work is perfect. If you live in the area I'd be happy to hook you up.
P.M. me, we'll talk.

For something like that which can be done in a night, you could find a body man that will moonlight for you. My recommendation is to look up at a local community college that offers auto body and sign up for a night class. It is the best time due to classes starting up soon. Instead of paying $250 to have it done you could spend that money for knowledge to do it yourself and access to the right tools.

$250 is cheap. my good friend/body guy wont even touch bumpers because of the prep work needed. if you can i can show you some pics of shotty bumper painting. sucks...my bumper has been painted 4 times...each time looks great coming out, within 6 months chipping and peeling again.
