Hopefully this is in the right section...
Ok, I've had two white cars, and they both seem to have the same paint problem, so I'm guessing this is common. Both of them seem to have no clear coat on them, or very little. I've tried everything to try to make it look good, but that's not really I'm asking about, however, if anyone has any suggestions on how to make it shine up a bit, it would be helpful. Ok, I have a del sol, and when I went to take the top off (which has like no clear coat on it), I had dirt or something on my hands, which got on the top. Now, I can't get the fingerprints out of the paint. I've washed it and waxed it...I'm afraid to use bleach white, which someone suggested. Does anyone know how I could get this crap out of my paint?? I also have my car at a tranny shop, and I know they're gonna get grease on my car somewhere, so I want to know how to get it out when I get my car back. Thanks guys! |

now with ur car, im guessing its a 94 considering your name, its probably oxidizing. this happens for a couple of reasons. one major one is when you wax the car do you use a polish or a wax. also do u hand buff the the or use a buffer. when using a polish that is to make a worn out clear coat look new. with a wax that is to seal and shine a new clear coat that is in good condition. also by buffing the car with a buffer you build up heat which causes part of the clear coat to be removed every time you do it. its so little that is taken off you wont notice until you do it for a long time. in my opinion i think your clear coat is oxidizing, probably due using the wrong stuff and using abrasve cleaners, waxing thje car improperly, and just usual wear and tear on the paint. |

Actually, I've only had the car since August, and it looked like that when I got it. I just want to know how to make it look better. It looks dumb actually cuz half of my car has been repainted and it has clear coat on it...
If you know what I could do (other than repainting it...I don't have the funds), it would help a great deal. To answer some of your questions, I never use a buffer. I always do it by hand. I have used a clay bar on it, but it didn't help a whole lot. Do you know of any good waxes or polishes I can use? |
