It's usually a laminate. You can buy the cheap shit at Autozone, but it'll start to fade, peel and more commonly bubble off.

If you've never tried it before and don't have a junk car or windows laying around I'd suggest getting it done professionally. Call around to different shops, I was going to have all four windows on my Sentra tinted for 128 dollars. Not a bad deal at all IMO.

Keep in mind the percentage number they use to describe tinting is how much light the tint will allow through the car.

example: if you have 45% tint, it'll block 55% of the light that would go through an untinted piece of glass.

You might want to check with local laws, depending on where you live there's different tinting laws that will say how much you can tint down to. Some states is as high as 35%, which is dark as hell. Some states allow minimal tint on the front windows, but darker on the back windows.

I tinted my old accord with laminate. I used a blow drier, and it helped alot. After a while I started not liking tints though. What color is your car?

its really not that hard at all, for the fronts, def take em out and do it, it makes it a lot easier, also for your rear window, they do it in strips instead of one giant sheet. its easier and you wont get any bubbling. trust me, the curve in the window will own you and your tint if you dont do it in strips. maybe tomorow ill get up a pic the tints on my rear windows, i had to take off my front tint cuz its illegal in NJ, and its really a pain in the ass getting pulled over all day long for it in the summer.

oh yea, when puttin them on, dont use windex, use water and dish detergent.

Just curious, why not use Windex? I used it and it turned out fine. I ended up not liking the way the tints looked with the car color though.

my car is silver...and the tint is real dark like black. so i think it will look good. i dont imagine ill be pulled voer alot..not in the area i live in..so im not worried about that just yet. wont it be tough to line up the strips well though? i mean i cant overlap them so that should be hard too right? but with that small of a window and the tightness i can imagine that being easier so thanks for the idea..

i believe that windex has something in it that will break down the adhesive on the tints, same as doing vinyl, they tell you not to use windex, the dish liquid(very little) and water is commonly refered to as "splash".

dryer helps to take the moisture out from under the tint, at least any that's left after you use the squeegee.
