This last Monday, when I was getting my oil changed at Wal-Mart a huge gust of wind lifted my hood of the rod and then slammed it back down. The effect being a huge dent in my hood. The store manager said that they would pay for the damage, so I had the vehicle estimated at my buddys shop, $1000 worth of damage.
Anyways I want to get a carbon fiber hood and what better time, damaged hood and a grand to blow, so I got some questios for you guys: * I saw some nice OEM carbon fiber hoods, do these acutally make a clean fit? *Some of the hoods were as cheap as $350 to $400 (not inculing shipping) are these ones junk? * If it says OEM, does it install like a OEM? Lastly, does anyone have any suggestions of what they have bought and liked. I really like the plain OEM black carbon fiber but have never bought parts online, what is a nice site to use. Thanks for the advice in advanced BTW I have a 98 honda civic EX (Red) |

I think that $1000 is fair, as he has been inconvenienced a little by having to have the hood replaced. Glad they didn't give you a hard time about it.

http://www.body-kitz.com/ Has free shipping and seems pretty resonable (around $500) Ive seen cheaper but these come with free shipping and the OEM hatch seems to be a good selling point. Thanks for the great info.

go with VIS, they are the only distributor that i've only heard good things about. this company bent over backwards and took it up the ass financialy to make things right with a friend of mine when his hood came in with three little scratches. paid for shipping all ways and all the time [after the original purchase shipping of course] to get him a hood that was in mint condition.
Siebon on the other hand i've heard some horror stories and another of my friends got screwed royaly by them... basicaly he paid for a lip i think and didn't get anything [money or lip] for over a year.

I just ordered my hood from VIS 2 weeks ago and great service and great quailty. I have a 98 prelude and it fits great. Go with VIS and there cheaper for your hood anyways. Order it straight from VIS since money isnt an issue.
