I just picked up a set of ek sideskirts and am planning on painting them tomorrow! This will be my first time actually painting something like this so I could use any suggestions or tips on doing this! I did some searches on ht and a few other sites and it seems like everyone has there own way of doing things! lol

The sides are already painted so I was told to use 800 grit sandpaper to roughen them up then it should be good to go...does that sounds right? Also what's a good time frame to wait in between coats?

Like I said I'm a total noob when it comes to painting so any suggestions will help!

Thanks in advance guys!

Yeah, you definitely want to roughen them up a tad so the paint bonds easier. I'd probably use something finer than 800 grit. Do very light coats. Your first coat shouldn't even completely cover the sideskirts. The 2nd coat should be done while the first coat is still tacky...I waited about 15 mins. All coats after that, I waited 30mins. After the last coat, I waited an hour before doing the clear. I waited 30 mins in between each coat of clear. Then let it set up overnight before installing. If you get any runs, make sure you wipe them up immediately.

^^^Thanks!

I actually got done doing them this morning at 3...made for a long night but got it done! They turned out alot better then I was expecting!

I ended up using 320 grit to wetsand both sides...worked really good! I took a pic while I was running out of the house for work this morning...I have progress pics I'll post up when I get them off my camera and after the install!
