Hey! I am new here, and exided to talk out some interesting stuff! Anyways, I amd trying to figure out how to do some cheap fuel managment (I know that dosent sound good). Anyway I was looking at a Hondata, but some Miami shop talked me out of it, they told me it sucked, and it cost 500 for them to tune it because they always have to reprogram eproms for it, then they tryed to sell me a 1500 dollar AEM System. Anyway, mabey yall can help me, here is what I got...
98 b18b 00 b18b head T3/T04e with 57 trim wheel and .50, .63 A/R Tial 38mm Wastegate HKS BOV Custom Equal legth manifold with Downpipe Spearco Front mount And for the fuel... RC 550cc Injectors AEM Fuel Rail Walbro 255gph fuel pump I do not want to go with a vortech FMU, I was wondering if I could use a Apexi S-AFC2 to tune for fuel with my bigger injectors? I heard some guy saying he is running a Vortech FMU and the Apexi sAFC, I do not know what to use, and am anxious to get my car running. I am only going to run 7psi of boost for now. Thank for any help, Frank. |

InlinePro around my area has been more than successful running an FMU with thier drag cars...I'm not sure how familiar you are with the AFC hack, but I personally ran it for about 2 months and ran DSM 450cc injectors with the SAFC to tune it...I had a Walbro pump, but never used it and never needed the fuel rail...
A lot of people dislike the FMU for different reasons such as disaster stories about the hoses popping off or the FMU not working all together...I personally have never used it because I had an AFC and DSM injectors in hand and the AFC HACK just looked a lot more simpler...if you have any more questons, let me know...

Hondata > AFC Hack > FMU.
If they told you that Hondata sucked, they don't know what they're talking about. However, assuming you are running OBD2 electronics, you would need an OBD2-OBD1 harness as well as an OBD1 ecu in order to run a Hondata system. As for the AFC hack on 550's, that might be too much for it to handle. My friend was running DSM 450's with an AFC hack, and even at full trim was still running rich. |

If you want a car to be tuned for power and every once of it you can get out... then hondata or the AEM are the way to go..
So many people are running hondata and seems to work great.. And 500 bucks for tuning isn't bad.. once you really get into tuning the car and having it set up for track or street.. race gas or pump gas.. Its easy to spend ~2k in tuning alone in a year. I talked to a shop in TX thats charging 200 an hour for tuning on the dyno.. get what ya pay for..
