first off, i have a turbonetics t3/t4 turbo. i know your not supposed to do this, but when you spin it by hand, it makes a very very quiet shing... shing sound. you have to practically put you ear up to the compressor housing to hear it, what do you guys think? i ran some oil through it, but it still made the noise. i really hope this turbo isnt done...

theres no wiggle in it at all, its pretty stiff. if you apply pressure in any direction, you can get it to move a very very little bit, less than a milimeter (i would guess < .5 mm) what do you think?

well if there is almost no play I would think its ok.. you think what your hearing with the compressor or turbine rubbing against the housing?
Is the turbo on the car.. or has it just been sitting around?? if you are worried might as well send it out to be checked on and atleast new seals put in while your at it.

The blades shouldn't hit anything...they should spin freely. They spin so fast, over 100k rpms, so any kind of metal on metal touching is going to destroy it at speeds like that.

it wasnt making the noise a month ago when i got it. since then, i have had it wrapped in clean rags and in a box in my room. i just took it out last night and it spins just like it did before and you can only hear the noise if you practically put your in the the compressor housing. i dont know if thats something that will be perfectly fine after i put it on the car and it gets oil run through it or if i should take it apart and check it out or what?
