Well, I've been saving up from the past few months and have gathered a good amount of cash in hand. A deal on a turbo kit came up that I think is pretty worth while..just wondering if anyone here would beg to differ. I'm going FI because I've kinda planned for it by getting the LS tranny and b20

Greddy TD05-18G Turbo Kit

Greddy Type 31 Intercooler and piping
Vortech FMU
MSD Inline Fuel Pump
SAFC
RC 310 Injectors
HKS Boost Controller

All I need to complete the kit is an oil feedline / return kit and a turbo timer. We talked and got a tentative price of $1450. This is local by the way.

Is there a specific oil kit I'd need to get? or is it more or less universal for b series? Sorry for all these questions..I'm still learning. My bro will be helping me with the install

thanks,
jess

btw, anyone have a picture of the greddy type 31 intercooler or know its dimensions? I looked all around and couldn't find info on it.

If your not going for gobs of power the intercooler will be fine. the b20 block id be a little hesitant about using, id use an ls block instead, the sleeves are thicker, and if you dont plan on sleeving it youll be better off. That and the bores arent siamesed. I personally dont like the fmu method, however if you cant afford S200 with boost it would prolly be ok. The oil lines arent really specific. we always have our own made by a local shop here in town, actually its a hydraulic shop but thats not the only place to get them. If your running LS/VTEC then you could get the golden eagle oil adapter and it will have a place that you can run an oil feed off of. However, we drill our blocks, and tap in the oil feed right before the top of the block above the water bar.
If you let me know the HP range i could give a little more advice on which way you should go.

hmm not too bad considering the hole in the stock bumper is ~750mmx150mm. I guess the top and bottom will be covered a bit

thanks for the info james

Jess- where are you getting the kit?

For tuning, I would seriously recommend going with a basic Hondata setup instead of an SAFC. You get much more precise tuning, and it's not a piggyback that's wired in on top of your ECU and still using your stock fuel maps like the SAFC is.

Yeah, i would go with atleast an s100 with boost, but if you wanna spend the extra bucks(like 100 i think) You could get an s200 with boost and have room to improve upon. S100 is basic and doesnt get you any options like 3 step, datalogging and the rest of the jazz. But you dont really need it unless your gunna do tuning and stuff yourself. Like i said, just watch out for the B20 block. Ive seen them crack a lot of sleeves under boost. Are you planning to do internals? pistons and rods would be a very good choice and i would recommend that. I can get you a set of cp's for 480. I can get you hondata also and rods...basically anything. Just let me know.

One Word.....UBERDATA!. just like hondata, but way cheaper...why? cuz its practically free. all you have to do is get a zif socket soldered into your ecu, buy a chip(few bucks), borrow a burner, download the free program and your good to go.

thats what i was gonna do once boosted. check out www.pgmfi.org for more info. theres also a program called CHROME that does the same thing. do a search on google for the uberdata site, i cant remember it right now.

How much do hondata systems usually run for? I looked and saw them anywhere from 200-1200?

Forking out the 1450 is already a bit over my budget, but this is from a local guy..after a dilemma dealing with rims I'd rather not spend over 300 unless it's local. I just want to take advantage of the deal (if it is one). Looking all over ebay and HT, most turbo setups, not even greddy, run atleast 1.5k without afc, injectors or whatnot.

I was just planning on getting the turbo kit and save up for a hondata tuned dyno run. I suppose I could buy the kit, sell the safc and buy hondata if it is that much better. As far as internals go, I wasn't planning on doing work internally for a while. I don't know if I'm keeping my car or not, and would rather spend money where I can get most of it back..thus a turbo kit.

Good idea. Just bolt on a turbo kit and tune it well- you'll easily be over 200whp on stock internals. Easy.

If you can get an SAFC cheap, go ahead and buy it, then run low boost until you can get a more precise tuning solution. You'll still be pretty happy with it.
