so if i get a nice nitrous set up, and then find an ITR head, this will be ok to run together wont it? i know i cant chip the ecu while running spray, but the higher redline and compression wont effect the engine negatively?

thanks,

Unless you're running a non-VTEC B series head, you won't get any higher compression from bolting on an ITR head. You can chip your ECU and run the R head + nitrous if you want, but I would get the car tuned properly to run with the juice.

I would recommend Hondata, definitely. It has a nitrous control option that lets you control nitrous timing and duration directly from the ECU. If you're more of a DIY guy and don't mind tinkering with your ECU a bit more, then Uberdata might be an option for you... although it can still end up costing just as much as the Hondata system, and it's not a pre-packaged solution. It tries to do the same thing that Hondata does.

hondata has built in nitrous control. it will even increase injector duty cycle when the nitrous is engaged. the type r combustion chamber is about the same as a b16 so your not going to gain compression unless you went with a gsr head. but you will probably make more power with the type r head anyway.

yeah, i have heard between 15-20 horses at the wheels?? dunno if its quite that much, but a friend got rid of his ITR head (without telling me ) and now he runs the B16 head, now i can take him.

i dont understand why tuning is necessary if i have the R head. im planning on only running a 55 shot zex kit. with the WOT switch and the little purple box. the box that supposedly does everything. why would it be any different with the itr head?

thanks

You won't need to get anything to tune besides the Zex kit. I ran it with a 75 shot on a stock motor, I tuned the ignition timing myself and it was fine. With a 55 shot, you'll run stock ignition timing, NO ADVANCE. Also, get some NGK copper plugs and gap them at .030". I run NGK BKR7E plugs.

only a 55 shot..
weak.......

I though you were talking serious like a 125-150 direct port setup.

Well, beginning of this year, I did a ITR head, AEBS intake manifold, Mugen 2 layer head gasket, and a VAFC on a B16a2. It gained 20 peak hp after tuning (from 129 to 150), he didn't gain a ton of torque however. The only thing is that for the price of nitrous and that head, you are working your way towards the price of boost which would be much nicer. That or just put nitrous on what you currently have, you will like it. You can even buy my nitrous setup after this weekend (shameless plug)
