Thank you. That's a lot clearer than the previous guys were posting... and a good bit more correct!
What everyone else was talking about "how much pressure it can hold"- they're talking about what size intercoolers are more appropriate for different turbo sizes and boost pressures. The small DSM intercooler is fine for small junkyard turbo setups- they have very little volume to pressurize, but they also won't cool the intake charge enough for lots of flow or boost. Larger intercoolers have more cooling capacity, so they're good for larger turbos and more boost, but they'll increase lag on a small turbo application. Basically, if you don't need the added cooling capacity, don't get it. You reach a point where increasing the size of your intercooler just gives you diminishing returns- so you have to find the right size for your application. |
