like i said in my topic in the general forum i want to eventually turbo this integra i'm getting. i don't know all that much about turbo, so i figure i should go ahead and start trying to learn more.
question 1: i'd like to get intake and/or exhaust for it soon, but then i don't want to waste money on something that i won't be using after i turbo it. if i got an aem intake would that be taken off after i turbo it? and also, i was planning to get the greddy evo2 exhaust system, but will that exhaust go with boost or would i have to change it? question 2: the engine has 58,000 miles on it right now. i know it'll be a while before i turbo it, so it'll have even more miles. should i worry about replacing any engine parts before i turbo it? and if i should, which parts would need replacing more than others? that's all i can think to ask right now...any help's appreciated.

Q1. Yes if you buy an intake regradless of brand it will not be used once you boost your car (but if you really want one you can buy a cheap Ebay brand and it will still let you bread better, The Exhause will work good on boost.
Q2. It really depends on how those miles were acumulated (sp). I mean i've seen boosted D-series motor with over 100K on them and still run strong. And i've seen motors with 60k blow up. It's really how good the car / motor has been taken care of and if you plan on mantaining the car good after you boost it. |

i see...well as far as i can tell (and from what i gather from talking to the guy) it's been taken care of pretty well. he said he's been running synthetic oil for a while now, which i can't really remember the difference between synthetic and regular. there were no mods at all, and a woman drove it to work and back mostly so i don't think it's been ragged out at all really. and i definitely plan to take good care of it before and after i turbo it.

Well if you are concerned about keeping the motor running strong just follow your maintance guide in your owners manual. And if there is any oil leaks, replace the seal, flush your rad regularly, oil changes, tune ups, etc. Your motor should run strong for awile.
Boost levels also depend on motor wear and tear, for a stock motor i wouldnt run more than 7psi.

I used my intake as part of my charge piping. If your going to buy a turbo kit then your intake will go to waste..
I boosted my engine that has approximately 65000 miles, but then again i have only been boosted for around 200mile over 3 months. so I still have allot to find out. Make sure you use good engine management and stay away from that experimental stuff... Good info, even if you buy a kit.

If your gunna run turbo this car id recommend gettin the synthetic oil outta there. Synthetic oil causes deposits in the turbo that build up and will block oil flow. If your just going to turbo a stock motor i wouldnt worry about replacing anything...your probably going to go through rings but thats not as bad as people think...if you really intend to go turbo...do it right...take that money you were going to use to buy the aem intake and go and buy Hondata w/ boost and a conversion harness. then your ready for the turbo. I personally dont like fmu;s thats why i recommend hondata. As for an exhaust system id just get a 3" done at some muffler shop with a Magnaflow muffler...thats what im running on my turbo setup. If you need anymore help with turboing a b series let me know...thats my bread and butter.

i've been looking at turbo kits and i found one that sounds pretty good.
http://www.turbo-kits.com/integra_turbo_kits.html it's the 7th one down, or the 1st one under the 94-01 section. it looks like it comes with pretty much everything except for engine management. tell me what you think. and about getting the exhaust done at a shop...that sounds good to me. there's a great muffler shop in town that's done all of our cars, and i know he recommends magnaflow mufflers all the time anyway.

out of those kits i would go with the Rev hard kit. or the drag...both are really well put together kits, and they dont include an fmu. Like i said hondata is the best route to go with turbo.
My car is really quiet (until the wastegate opens) with my exhaust and all im running is the magnaflow muffler, no cat and no resonator. |

now that you mention it the drag kit does look very appealing. it comes with everything for fuel too which is definitely a plus. so if i eventually got that kit all i'd need is the hondata pretty much correct? also couldn't i get the kit and then eventually add hondata to it or would i want to get hondata first?
and also if i wanted to get exhuast done first and went with what you said earlier about getting 3" pipe done at the muffler shop, would that significantly effect accelleration before turboing it? i've always heard that the bigger the pipe the slower accelleration and the higher the top end and vice versa.
