I decided, that I am sticking with the dseries engine. What I would like to know is, what are the best gains for this platform?

I have been checking out turbod16 forums, and I was reading that alot of guys on there are easily getting 200hp w/ the stock y8. The reason I am thinking about turbo-d-ing, is if something were to go wrong, you can get a new engine for dirt cheap. I just really dont feel like doing an engine swap on my daily driver. A little pep is all I want. and Turbo seems like the best route.

What I would like to know is, what kinds of ugrapdes could I do to get the most power, the safest way. I know I could get forged internals, but what else would you get have a smooth runing system.

Also do any of you guys know what a solid tubro kit for the d?

Well thats all the questions I have for now.

Turbo or nitrous make more power than the SOHC superchargers. You can get decent gains by just getting a solid turbo kit. Don't use a crappy FMU style management, get something like a hondata, and some bigger injectors....something tunable. That way you'll get the most power out of your setup, and the most reliability. If it was me going turbo, I would pick the components individually that I wanted. Turbo, manifold, wastegate, BOV, fuel management, etc. Tuning is the key to keeping your motor safe, and getting power....and it's overlooked by most people.

ive seen some pretty sick turbo d seris motors. and yes thats a nice thing about them they are dirt cheap. besides that i heard the edlebrock kit is nice. but i never did much research on the kit, but it got a good write up in sport compact car when it came out. also check out rev hards kit for the y8. both kits will be safe for a stock engine. take a look at turbokits.com they give some prices of varios kits and what they contain.

i would use a D16Z6 head, built it with some sorta strong valve train that can withstand the abuse, then use a tuned P28 with Uberdata..(yes i'm plugging them cause i've seen the results and its fuckin awesome)

Hondata won't work on your car... any USDM Civic with a D16Y8 is OBD2, and Hondata won't work on a non K series OBD2 engine.

You can convert down to OBD1 and tune with the P28, but your best bet might be something like the AEM EMS. Tuning is THE most important thing to spend money on for your car.

tuning will not be overlooked, I have already been looking at turbokits.com. I hear good things about them.

just go with a rev-hard kit...order it without the fmuy and map diffuser and you should be good to go.
