So I pulled the motor out of the civic today and tore it down. Same old story cranked ring lands on 3 pistons and one of them was cracked in 12 different locations. I?ll post pic tomorrow of that. I know that cracked lands are from running lean mostlikey. But I also believe I need to relieve some pressure from the crankcase. What I plan on doing is running a catch can between the PVC also between the breather nipple and the Pre turbo intake. But I also want to give it some extra relief. So I plan on running some AN line off the front of the valve cover. My questions are.
1. What size line should I use? 2. Do I just running them to a catch can? 3. Do I run a vacuum source to it? If so what source should I use? |

no it has nothing to do with crank case pressure...i am running the stock breather system and 25lbs of boost with a big turbo and i have no issues with crank case pressure...you need to get the car tuned!
If you run a breather you run 10an lines off the valve cover to the breather. No you dont need a vacuum source you run your stock breathing system along with that. |

I believe z10 engineering makes a beather kit that elminates the breather tank on the back of the block. but i think because you have an LS mike, you cant run that kit.
but resistance is right, get that beeyatch tuned man.

i dont like the z10 kit...i dont like the fact taht it eliminates the black can all together....more crankcase ventilation = more power.

[/quote] Well since i have an LS block i con't have the black box on the back, And the one hole thats on the b18c is already plugged from the factory. The only ventaliation i get if from the PVC thats in the valve cover, i have no ventalation in the lower half of the motor, Thats what my concern was, But if you guys think it's alright i'll just leave it alone. As for tuning, I just spend $540 on a socketed p06, OBD conversion harness, LT-1 wideband / datalogging and a eprom-emualator, And i'll he having someone that know what they are doing to tune it. |

aww but you can have a black can
that little hole thats blocked off where the can is supposed to be...break the aluminum out of it and put a can in there and bingo you got a black can....all it is, is they sealed that hole up...you can easily open it back up...we had to do that on a couple motors. |
