Ok, Ive gotten my turbo kit ordered, (a garrett T3/t4) for my 99 Si. I know there are alot of different tuning products you can get like a Apexi Vtec controller and Hondata. I was wondering if any vtec controllers would also do the job of a turbo timer, and if they dont, would it be worth it to get both a turbo timer and a vtec contoller? or just the timer?

any turbo timer would work. But if you're looking at appearance the Apexi Auto timer is nice and small. About the size of a sharpie marker. The greddy is about the size of a box of ciggarettes

OK time for the dumb question. What does a turbo timer do exactly. I mean I understand the basic concept but I want to know the purpose.

They extend a turbocharger's life by allowing the engine to idle for a pre-set amount of time after the ignition key has been turned off and removed from the key cylinder. This permits the engine oil (and water isf water cooled) to circulate through the turbocharger bearing housing, drawing heat out of the bearings and impeller shaft to lower the temperature to a safe level before the engine is shut down.

There are no dumb questions, just questions that have been answered before. So.. just ask if anyone doesn't know the answer to something. If one of US doesn't know the answer to it I'm sure that someone will look it up and find out.

i have/had the greddy timer and it did its job...till it broke...No clue why, but it just wouldnt keep the car running...if i were to get one again, i'd def. get the apex just because of its compact size...although the Blitz timer looks pretty nice and is about the same size as the greddy...BUT, i really want to get an alarm with an incorporated timer in it so i dont have to worry about configuring a timer and an alarm together...
