Whats up guys! Well my car was running great and then just today i was driving and i got on it and instead of boosting 7 it went to 17. But it wasnt any faster and it didnt detonate or make any weird noises. It was like the turbo had to work harder to make the 7? i dunno if that makes any sense. I have a greddy turbo kit with intercooler, aem fuel rail, bigger inj. exhaust...... and its tuned on hondata. Any ideas whats going on. I was kinda leaning toward maybe the wastegate... It did it once before for like a day then it was good, but now its worse. Well any ideas would help THANKS

need more info...

where are you referencing your boost...

what type of guage are you using.

you are not getting actual 17# of boost without a boost referenced fuel pressure guage. you would not be getting the correct amount of fuel for 17# and fry your pistons or blow HG.

my guess is you have an elec boost guage, with bad ground or its a autometer coblat boost guage(which is crap, and gives incorrect readings).

pure and simple your not getting 17#

Maybe he's getting a momentary boost spike, caused by a shitty wastegate.

Don't think its a boost spike cause it never goes back down.... The gauge is good and reads everything right. My vaccuum is good on the gauge.... its just when i hit it it goes to 7 but doesnt stop and it goes all the way up to 17ish.....and the blow off valve sounds messed up... Most boost spike i have ever had was like 9.. when i was set on 7
THANKS

hmmm could be the internal gat sticking...or maybe the line for the gate blew off. Could be a lot of things...but in reference, this could be your answere as to why your blowing smoke now...that would definately hurt a motor, especially if it isnt tuned that high. Check your references for the wastegate, make sure they are good and there are no cracks in the line.

juss a suggestion but check an make shure your piping is all tight an nothing came lose. it might have went to 17 but all the air might have not made it into the motor. i believe ur motor would be in some shit if it did.

If his piping was loose and he had a boost leak, he wouldn't have been able to build 17psi anywhere in the system..

I'd have to agree with slammedcivic2kyle. sounds like a problem with the internal wastegate/bypass valve or if you have some sort of boost controller like a Greddy Profec B.. it might be that it needs some adjustment.
