powder coat it...
I believe powder coating would be just as expensive as anodizing it. Anodizing would be the best choice if you dont mind dishing out the extra cash.

hrmm, will it ever fade? I know I had some screw cover things that were anodized a dark blue color, and now they look sky bluish.

I flat blacked my IC back in my turbo days. The effects of the paint are null.

Powdercoating is NOT a good idea, because it adds a LOT of material to the IC, plus they powdercoating place must sandblast the aluminum first and you could end up with some holes or bent fins in your IC.

1 can of Krylon flat black - $3.29
1 hour of work - $65 (I'm expensive)
Being stealth to others - Priceless

Just make sure you do 4-5 LIGHT coats of paint. You don't need to saturate it with spray.

I recall one of the Mods here having a red turbo Civic, and it had a front-mount IC that was extremely difficult to see.

I remember the secret behind his stealthiness was a length of chicken wire painted black, mounted on the front air dam. It was clean, looked good, and made it pretty damn difficult to see it.

Yeah.. that "expanded" metal mesh pained black with the I/C painted black also would make it almost impossible to see unless you walked up to the car and stuck your head under the bumper..

haha.. people have done that to my car before.
