97 ex, my tranni is shot to hell....3rd gear syncro gone, 4th gear completly gone. how possible/easy would it be to use a cable clutch tranni. will the holidays comming money is a bit tight and i need to change it soon so i can pass inspection. i hvent really looked at a cable tranni, but i would assume all you would need to do is make up a bracket to mount the slave cylinder and maybe change out the folk? i havent really loooked in to it...just would like some feedback or just for someone to point out any possible flaws in my thinking... thanks

Is there even a cable tranny for the 6th gens? I hadn't heard of one. Also it may end up being more expensive trying to make that work than just sticking another hydro tranny in there. There really isn't going to be much of a difference in price, and also you have to think about gear ratios. If there is a cable 6th gen then it will have to be the lower line which are built for economy so the gears would suck for performance. Just a thought though.

You shouldn't have trouble finding a hydro D series tranny for cheap.

Yup. Way easier and cheaper than converting your car to cable, and the transmissions will be in beter shape too... because you won't be putting a 12 year old (minimum) transmission into your car.

I agree with them, there arent any cable trannys for anything newer than 91.In 92 they switched to hydro on the d series. If you want ed to go cable tranny then find a zc tranny and buy the hydro to cable adapter that hasport, place racing, or avid.
the kit costs like 150 or so and you can find the trannys for around the same. zc trannys came with limited slip and close gear ratios so that is a good one for performance. They did make an obd1 dohc zc and the tranny from one of those is hydro with descent gear ratios. If you have trouble finding one hit me up I have a number of cable trannys.
