Hey guys. I recently posted about ecu troubles that I had where an obd2 scanner couldn't read my JDM computer. So I got a new P2t (99-00si) off of ebay, but naturally it's OBD2b, whereas the one I had is just OBD2 so it doesn't line up.
So since I'm looking for a computer anyways, which ecu swaps are done for OBD2 and why? Any suggestions or personal experiences? And how about doing an OBD1 conversion? I could always just throw the OBD2 ecu back in on inspection day, so if OBD1 is a benefit then I could just do that. Thanks |

What motor are you running?
OBD2 and OBD2b ecu's cannot be chipped, whereas OBD1 ecu's can. |

OBD2's can most definately be chipped. Even hondata now has programs for them right on their website. I'm not sure about OBD2b or OBD2a though. It's not as easy or cheap as OBD1, but even a yahoo.com search will show many people offering chipped OBD2's.
Otherwise, I'm running the last generation JDM B16 from a 2000. That's why when I got it and it had an OBD2 computer, I thought that I was wrong in thinking that the 99-00 SI's came in OBD2b. It wasn't until I just got this new ecu that I found I was originally right. It's just that Japans emissions are a little behind us. |
