I believe they are a 2057, which can be interchanged with a 1157.

The plug-in replacements do, yes- they should specify on the package what bulb they replace. I wouldn't buy them though- almost every LED replacement bulb on the market that you can get at a decent price is quite a bit dimmer than your stock bulbs.

the reason i needd to buy them though is because im so sick of replacing the stupid crappy red bulbs i need,im sure theres a fault somewhere but i cant find it, my brake filaments keep burning out in a short period of time, and so i thought that at least LEDs will last longer. Or is that just bull made up by the makers of teh LED bulbs?

LEDs DO last longer than incandescant bulbs by design, but the LED replacements you buy at AutoZone and Rice Boys are pieces of crap with bad wiring and bad circuit boards. They don't last. I pulled mine out after 6 months and only about 3 out of 12 LEDs in each cluster on average still worked. Anyway, if you have a wiring fault in your car, putting in LEDs isn't going to make anything last longer. If you're blowing out bulbs, you're going to blow out the LEDs too. Fix the problem- don't just try to cover it up.

thanks for the advice, don't suppose you know the best way to go about checking whether there is a fault and where the fault is without having to pay the expensive costs for getting an auto electrician to look at it?

Check all your wires- get a service manual and figure out where everything is connected, then go over it with a multimeter and figure out where your problem is. It'll be pretty time consuming, but that's probably all you can do... or not. I dunno. I'm just spewing out a standard way to go over a circuit to see if something's screwy.
