Ok...so I have some tranny problems...not exactly sure yet but I'm just exploring my options. So I've been looking for prices on new and used transmissions and was wondering if anyone knew of any good places to get a transmission (website or whatever). Also....would it be possible to get a 6 speed type R tranny and bolt it right up to my engine or would I have to make stuff like custom shift linkage or is the tranny even gonna be similiar enough to try?

si linkage will work just fine thats what i have in my 99 coupe. Your gonna pay an ass load for a itr tranny and it's not really worth it to the normal driver.. get a gsr tranny or something

websites.. can't really offer you much that wont rape you on that.. try hmotors i might be able to get it in a few months dunno though

Yeah man ITR trannies are overrated unless you plan on doing alot of drag racing, just get another B16 tranny and put in a Quaife LSD or some kinda LSD unit if you want LSD (Cause B16A Tranny diff's suck), if you swap in a GSR or ITR its gonna make you slower because of slightly longer gearing...not short gearing like the b16

from my expereience the b16 tranny is less reliable then the gsr or the ITR.

i personally if i had to buy at full price my motor wouldn't buy an itr tranny cause it has lsd.. not worth the money

well the only quality LSD i would put (if i had the money) would be the Quaife LSD, #1 the stock honda LSD only holds up to about 275 hp and then they are done...the quaife will hold up with some serious numbers. I wouldnt buy a Phantom or any other cheap LSD kits, the quaife is a WHOLE differental...

where in the world did you get that info? who uses 275 HP in a turn?!? thats what LSD are for turns doesn't do dick but spin when you going straight .. to say a honda itr lsd wont hold over 275 going straight is the same as saying my transmission's gears will spontaneously fly out of the housing and decapitate me.

ya dont need an LSD unless your AutoXing just dont need it for drag racing.. unless you have the worst choices in street tracks i've ever heard of

Eric...i have pulled my tranny out serveral times, how many have you pulled? Also I have some of the most experienced trained technicians at my school that actually happen to know a few things about honda transmissions, and from what i have heard from a couple of my intructors: It is hondas weakest link, the drivetrain.

an LSD that comes in a ITR is mainly designed for circle track racing because in japan thats what they were intended to do. Now Quiafe and Phantom Grip and all those companies, designed thier LSD units for the track/street, and yes once the stock LSD units in all the JDM Trannies and the USDM ITR only hold to about 275/300 hp and they are crap from there. 2 wheels spinning = more traction vs. the one wheel wonder my friend...

EDIT: Suspension and drivetrains are two of my most favorite things to work on in cars...so back up foo! I have done my research

dude, werent you the one that was bragging about how much better your GSR tranny was than your B16 tranny??? hmmm i remembered this from from a while ago so i thought id dig it up:

Nothing is wrong with it, it had a blown tranny last week, swapped a GSR in it, and now it hauls even more ass with the longer gearing...

About 10k on the motor, like 2k on the tranny [/b]
hmmm.....i guess now weve changed our mind again?

jesus christ, cant say a word around here without getting my ass chewed....Ight look smart ass, With nitrous my car does hall balls with the GSR tranny, all motor my car sucks first and 2nd...cause my VTEC point is at 5500 right now, it needs to be lowered to 4500 cause going 1st-2nd it jumps out of the powerband for a quick second and bogs. But it does make my car quicker from a 3rd gear roll....so please dont bust my balls...and dont stick your nose where it doesnt belong
