Unhappy

i don't know much about CV joints, but i do know that they "click" when you turn when they have gone bad. now the shop i go to says that my passenger cv joint needs to be fixed. he said i can either replace the whole axel, or i can just replace the cv joint. what is the pricing difference, what would be a wise choice? thanks, Dane.

Ask him what his pricing difference is if you're going to have him do it. We can't guess on his prices.

If you're willing to tackle it yourself, just replace the whole axle. You should be able to do it for about $60 after a core return at AutoZone, and you'll have a lifetime warranty too.

Dane, If you've got the loot, go for the whole shaft! I've replaced a ton of them in civics . . . they are NOT hard to do at all!

As Mike said . . the entire shaft will run you less than a hundred dollar bill. Also . . If you drive aggressively, you might as well do BOTH sides, just to be sure that you won't encounter the same problem in the near future.

Good luck
