I'm desperate.

About 6 months ago, my main fuse blew. I replaced it and everything was fine until a month later, I made a 4 hour drive. When I went to start my car after this drive, it blew the fuse. I replaced the fuse and everything was fine. I figured it was just a coincidence. A month after that, I made the same drive and sure enough, after trying to start my car, the main fuse blew. The next morning I tried a new fuse and as soon as I turned the key, the new fuse blew. This happened 3 times in a row. I took it to a shop and they could not find anything wrong with it. They replaced the fuse and said they could not recreate the problem. This also happened to me one more time after a 2 hour drive. I still take my car on short drives, but am afraid to take it out for more than a half hour because I think I will just get stuck there. The weather conditions were dry when this happened each time. Any ideas?

Have you checked all your grounds, power connections? It sounds to me like you are shrting something in the ignition switch. Have you had anything electrical installed lately? If so that's where I'd start. If not check the starter and battery cables, then move to any other engine grounds/power connections. Last but not least check all the wiring under the das to make sure you dont have bare wire showing anywhere. Thats about all you can do so check, double check and then check again to make sure.
