If you are obsessed with saving weight in you car then try this. I recently repainted my front and rear bumper. When I took the bumper off though, I saw a few rocks inside the bumper support. So I got a broom handle and made of mound of paper towel and tape mixture to the end of it and pushed through to the other side, and a few more rocks and stuff came out than I expected. After doing the same to the front I put both in a box to weigh and it was 9 pounds. No big deal, but if you're into weight savings, or are just disturbed that there could be this kind of buildup in your supports, then you should do the same, it's simple to take off bumpers.
Now my car came from nowheresville, vermont where the guy lived on dirt roads, so my experience may be slightly greater than yours, but you never know.

So you checked?
It would have really been funny if I had made this whole thing up to see how many people start ripping bumpers off their cars! But I am serious... ...or am I? ![]()

I had rocks. Not 9 lbs of rocks, but I had them and I rarely drive on gravel. So it's not just you I guess.
