I'm trying to replace my front discs.. got it all torn down so only thing left is the two "recessed" screws (the retaining screws) holding the disc to the hub. My Haynes says they might be tight but my GOD they don't wanna come loose, even with a impact screw driver. Any suggestions..?? GRRRR

those actually hold the rotor on????
Sorry never heard/seen that before.. Try some pb blaster and hit it some, OR maybe try and heat it some to help get it loose

I had to drill them out on my HB when I changed the rotors. Get some new screws for it and get those old rusty bastards outta there.

When you run into the rotor setup that uses bolts to "hold" them into place, you'll run into this.
If they are stuck, pb blast the ish out of them to help free them up. If they are stripped, you may have to drill them out. The impact driver is most def. another good idea. You should be able to rent one from a local store ie. AZ commercial/AutoZone, etc . . . They are a good tool for this sort of thing. If you do end up drilling them out. BE CAREFULL not to bogart the threads. When you replace the bolts, make sure to dip them in some "never seise" <--sp so they don't freez up again. Good luck on this one. Once you've done it once, it gets pretty easy the next time(s) Sam - |
