I've always wondered this too. Some motors you see look brand new in every little corner and mine looks like crap after a month of New England driving. So I'm curious to see what everyone says here.

someone told me to always leave the motor running when hosing off the engine. i dont see how that can be a good thing though.

i didnt want to argue with the guy so i agreed. but i def. wouldnt do it.

steam cleaning like that thing on tv? the "steam buggy"? i honestly dont see how hot water is going to take oil and stuff like that off your engine. i do what eric does. simple green pwns. i would avoid using it on chrome though. it can get a bit spotty. as you can probably tell, i dont clean my engine.

At my old job we used to clean the mills with steam. But the water also had a de-greaser in it. You would be surprised to see what steam does to grease, I was the first time I saw it.

The difference between high pressure steam and high pressure is the same as the difference between regular house pressure and high pressure. Yes simple green works well but you will take off much more with steam. night vs. day!
