recently my SRS airbag light was lighting up whenever I turned my wheel at least 180 degrees in either direction. Then one day it just stuck being lit up and now it's been that way for awhile. it's starting to annoy me uncontrollably. I also noticed after a short time that my horn no longer worked and the same with my cruise control. My mechanic said it was my coil spring in my steering wheel and that a new one cost like $400 from the dealer. Any help on this problem....where can I get one cheaper if it is indeed a faulty coil spring...and has anyone had these problems that can help out?? many thanks in advance....

When my SRS light came on it was the airbag unit or something. $500 to replace from Honda. I wouldn't cheap out on an airbag unit myself.

It could be the clock spring in the column or you could have a wire that is shorting out when it is stretched, and now it's either broken or constantly grounded out. All you need to do is take the plastic pieces off of the column and trace the wires down to make sure they are all in tact then if they are then you have eliminated that possibility. I may be wrong and please correct me if i am but I dont think the clock spring would have any effect on the horn or cruise so most likely you got a short somewhere.

Well no matter how good a driver you can possibly be there could always be someone else who hits you.
