First off it's been a while since I've had time to check out the forums and last I saw they were very different. I have to say, so far I like the new look.
Secondly, I got a new car. No longer am I rumblin around in the 94 civic dx....I have a brand spankin used 2000 civic si . I LOVE IT! I got it pretty cheap and the only thing wrong with it is the check engine light is on. The guy told me he got the code read and the shop said it was the ecu. I would just like to check this b4 I order a new ecu. Anyhoo on to my questions. for a 2000 civic si I/H , lightened flywheel, stage 2 clutch, plugs and wires questions 1.) Can someone tell or know of a website that tell how to make the led or whatever blink on the ecu and what the blinks mean. 2.) Can I just order an ecu...new or used and throw it in or does it need to be programmed (a friend told me that it will need programmed for my specific car but I don't think he's right.) 3.) It seems like the vtec is kickin in a little late (like 5500 to 5700) rpm. At least that when I can hear it, is that normal? Isn't it supposed to kick in at 5200 or 5400 or something? Thanks guys and gals. |

5200 no way way too low for a stock SI vtec
Before you can start reading the CEL (check engine light) in your dash, you need to 'jump' your ecu. Here's how. Located the factory two-pin connector of brown and black wires near the ECU on Civics del Sols and Integra's, or behind the center console for Preludes and Accords. Pull that 2-pin out of the main harness. Using a wire or paper clip as a jumper, connect the outputs of the harness together, so that the black wire and the brown wire make a circuit. Once this is jumped together, the dash will start the light show, so its a good idea to jump first, then turn to on. if for some reason you need a ECU (you shouldn't) i have the one you need PM me |

it will give long flashes, you count 10,20,30,40 and so on. then it will flash quickly, count those1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 and that will tell you what code.
