Hey Gang,

First off i like the new look, great job!

Now for the issues... my car is a 1996 dx hatch.

Throwing the following codes :
17 - speedometer malfunction - this just happened, its not working
20 - ELD load detector system
41 - 02 sensor , check heater for proper voltage
65 - secondary heated 02 sensor heater circuit fault (sensor 2)

The symptoms :
Obviously speedometer not working. It does jump all over the place though, 120, 80, 20, 60.. you get the idea.
Headlights and brake lights all "waiver" meaning they go dim, bright, dim, bright .. speed of undulating lights not effected by engine RPM though.

What happened :
Driving normally down the road, suddenly speedo stops working and MIL comes on. I immediatly pull over check all fluids etc.. everything seems to be fine except for listed problems above. My first thought was that the alternator failed, but car continues to get power. Battery is putting out solid 12.6V.

I checked the ELD... performed the test for that and i think i need a new ELD.
I get no voltage from black/white to black wire test. I get 4.5V from gr/rd to black wire test. When car is at idle, i get 4.5V gr/rd without headlights on and then 4.7V with headlights on. Book says that voltage should be LESS with headlights on and car at idle. Just need some help with O2 sensor issue and any other thoughts. thanks..

Sorry this is so long.

I moved your topic since the newbie section is for introducing yourself and you won't get much technical help there. The first thing I would do is check all of your grounds from the battery to the chassis, from the engine to the chasssis, and from the transmission to the chassis.

Check the voltage at the battery while the car is running. Check it with the ground on the multimeter to the negative post on the battery and at a chassis ground.

Voltage is identicle from all grounds (battery, transmisson, engine) to the positive batter post (read out of 13.33V) while car is running. (also while car is not running)

Although now when the car is idling it keeps jumping from 1k rpm to 2k rpm, over and over again.. kind of like a limping thing wrroooommm.... wroooommmm... wroooooomm... blah ...

Any other ideas???? Please...
