I am about to upgrade my clutch also but I want something that is commuter friendly. I have been thinking about the exedy stage 1 ($240 shipped from horsepowerfreaks.com) or the basic exedy oem clutch ($135 ebay) because I dont have many mods, just a magna flow cat back and a cold air intake. I am also considering 3 flywheels because the cost of rebalancing is not very different than a new one. ACT street light weighs 12.5 lbs should be better for driveability, an exedy flywheel that weighs 9.5 lbs and a fidanza flywheel that weighs 7.5 lbs. All pretty much cost the same $195-$220 shipped. I have been told that a extra light flywheel may make the car hard to get going at first but wind up nicely after you get going. I am just trying to find the right balance. Let me know what you guys think.

Extra light flywheels are fine, I have one that weighs 7lbs. All the myths you hear are untrue. I personally don't like exedy clutches, because in high HP applications they don't hold up very well from my experiences. For your application though, it'll be fine.

I have a 7lb ACT flywheel in my GSR with a N1 crank pulley and I must say my car revs very quickly throughout the whole gear. Think of it this way. The less rotating mass, the more hp, and revvablity. My car has VERY good throttle response. I also have a stage 2 exedy clutch with a heavy duty ACT pressure plate. Very good setup. Now with your SI it isnt gonna matter if you have a stage 1 or 4, you have a hydualic clutch which can be slipped easier than a cable, it wont grab as bad as a cable transmission.
but in all, get the exedy clutch with flywheel. Good upgrade. check out, clutchcityonline.com for good prices on clutch/flywheel combos.

With the exedy clutch if i remember right the only differance in the stage one and two is the material on the disk..
I'll grab a catalog tomorrow from work and check it out but if so you might as well go for the stage two

yeah i would get exedy, but i wouldnt get a super light flywheel. its weird driving a light weight flywheel, you have to rev like hell to keep you RPMs up and your always racing around with a superlight flywheel. remember this it revs up fast revs down fast.
if you havent driven a car with a aftermarket clutch and light weight flywheel, dont go to big. it will frustrate you alot when you first get it because your driving habits will have to change. i drove a crx with stage one parts and it was very different from a stock system and was weird driving. just look around and see what its like driving then go from there |

I have a 7.5lb flywheel and I don't have to always race around town or rev like hell to keep the RPMs up. |
