Hey guys,
I need to get an OBD1 ECU so i can get it chipped for Hondata. im not to sure what ecu to get or where to get one. My car is manual/nonvtec, so if anyone has any helpful links that would be awsome. On the hondata website they list 300$ for a p28 OBD1 ECU already socketed... The shop im going to charges 92$ to socket a ECU. what do you guys think i should do? Umm cant think of anything else to include.

go with neptune www.evans-tuning.com you can talk about pros and cons for each application IMO neptune is way better.

hondata has ALOT more options though, IMO hondata is even better than a standalone because I have been doing alot of reading about it and hondata has come along way with thier s200 and the K series management.
Becareful who sockets your ECU because i have heard horror stories about fried or damaged ECU's while socketing. If you go with Hondata you know it will be done right.

i did consider neptune, but evans tunning is like as far north into penn as you can get. I just dont underatand that if the 445$ you pay is for the chip and software, or if its for the ecu also?

Not to mention the new Hondata has an autotune feature. If you hook up a wideband O2 and input a desired a/f ratio, it will self tune. I don't know much about Neptune, but Hondata is tried and true to the game.
As for the ECU, what motor are you running? Single cam? LS? $92 bucks to socket an ECU seems kinda high, it doesn't really take very long to do it...and parts are cheap. |

You could find an OBD1 LS ECU or use the P28, or you could even use a SOHC nonvtec ECU converted to DOHC.
