Well thats a good point too, Just by looking at my brake pad when it happened you can see the degree of the angle it was wearing in. Which was from Right thinning out to the left. Take a look and see how the pad has worn. If its worn unevenly then its same case scenario, If its worn evenly then his guess is as good as mine.

I'm only going by my own experience..
