well there is all kinds of sensors in the air bag system, you have contact sensors and some other stuff. What SRS code do you have?
If you arent experienced with Air Bag systems, i really wouldnt reccomend trying to repair it. It could be fatal.

yea bro i wouldn't mess with it, It's a very touchy system and the last thing you want is the air bag deploying while your driving.

well i mean the only reason why i suggest not doing it yourself is because if you do not power down the SRS system, you could possibly even with the car turned off, deploy the airbag and hurt yourself

I was told that i will set me back $800 to replace the srs system. which is i guess what i need. Do you need to replace this system whenever your airbags go off/deploys?

yeah its reccomended you replace the whole system. See what happens in an event in a crash there is a main sensor (in the middle of the car, behind the dash area somewhere) that is a contact sensor and when the ball in the sensor makes contact with the sensor the sensor is no longer any good. Plus the air bags and what not are a fortune too. Why are you putting this back into your vehicle, why not just eliminate it all together?
