Get a partner.* Have them get in the car, stomp on the brake pedal and put the car in 5th gear.* Use a long extension, breaker bar, and slide a metal pipe over the end of the breaker bar for leverage.* I use a floor jack handle.* Works like a charm.
What i usually do is get a short 1/2 drive ratchet, a BIG dead blow hammer, and it usually come off for me. But good luck, use alot of penetrating oil. An impact is the way to go though.

Yes. There's a notch where a little key goes in, so you know which way the pulley goes on. Don't lose that key.

yeah, my mechanic friend told me to do the same.
I guess the sudden force will break the threads loose.

once the bolt is loose, does the pully just spin around?
or does this keyway stop it from moving?

Tried that already. the weight of me pushing on the
breaker bar lifted my buddie up who was holding the
pully with a chain wrench.
