i was driving around the other day and i heard a screeching sound from the front driver's side wheel. my buddy told me it's the brake pads that are going bad.
so, i'm looking some pads online and i was wondering what type i should get. should i get OEM or aftermarket? is there a difference? i know there's difference in price. and what types do you recommend(ceramic, semi-metalic, etc.)? thanks in advance. btw, im planning on changing the brake pads myself for the first time. so, any suggestions while doing this? |

Definantly ceramic - if you can afford them!!
They will last 10x longer than any metallic pad.. have better stopping characteristics, they do not put off harmful 'brake dust' that eats into aftermarket wheels..and they will never squeal. and! ..dont forget to grease your 'guide pins' ..those are what allows the caliper to float the pads equal distances on both sides from the rotor...hence giving you equal wear...if you dont and one side sticks...then one pad will be worn slap out...and the other will be like new |

As far as online ordering goes . . .
nopi is a great site. They've got good pricing and pretty quick shipping as well. Before you place your order . . . Look around cl for goldenboy (Draven) . . . He's got all the hookups you'll ever need, most likely has what you're lookin' for, great prices, and killer fast shipping. As far as the pins are concerned . . . once your wheel is off, you'll be able to see were everything is located. It's easier to see everything before you can really know what we're talking about. Use a nice lithium grease on the components and you'll be all set. Later. Sam - |

after a lot of research online, im mostly likely be getting Axxis Ultimate brake pads. they got pretty good reviews and the only problem is that it gives off a lot of brake dust...
before i order this, does anyone have last minute opinions on this product... either good or bad. |

Giving off a lot of brake dust should bring up your 1st concern . . . if it's doing that . . wouldn't it be wearing down quicker? That only makes sence to me!
Before you jump . . . Check out a company called EBC . . . They call their pads "Green Pads" They make some very impressive pads . . You can also pick from a few different styles. from regular to aggressive Good luck. |

i've seen some reviews on the EBC "Greenstuff" brake pads and most of em are nothing but bad opinions. the EBC "Redstuff" has some pretty good reviews but that costs a fortune.
brake dusts... the Axxis Ultimate brake pads are made of "kavalar/ceramic" but i have no idea what the kavalar is. i heard that the ceramic lasts longer though... the only thing i found are good performance but nothing on how long it lasts... so im not sure what I'm going to be getting now. |
