Ok i started pulling the motor last night. All i have left to do is take the axles out and lift the engine out (Eric i'm doing it in my parking lot). Anyway, I'm really short on cash and i just want the car running. How bad of an idea is it to reuse the head, rod, and main cap bolts? (Eric what did it run you for the ARP's?). Anyway thats my only question. i will have a huge post with 100000000000000000000 pictures of the rebuild.

bad idea super bad idea. if we've learned anything in this build mike is that being preventive will save us lots of TIME and even money in the long run.

Checko out will's post in my thread about the the stretching of head stuts under heat they lose the ability to stretch as much and become harder and more brittle.

Bottom line, you break one of those bolts in your head or block, your car will be out of commision for much longer time. My advice is to get the arp head studs if nothing else, my secondary advice would be get the head, main, clutch, fly and exhuast manifold bolts (in that order of importance)

the head studs were somethign like 90 bucks from www.tunerschoice.com and the mains were like 60. I believe in this so much i'll front you the money for the main and heads until you can pay me back. I dont want to see you do what you did to my flywheel lol.

We've always reused main/rod bolts, and I reused my head bolts on my head swap....no problems...but I wouldn't reuse them more than once. Would it be better to replace them? Yes.
