New tires will yield better traction although I dont think a civic could have the problem, nothing against you or your car (I drive one too) but in all honeslty hopping your car like that can and often will cause serious damage.

If you want to chirp your tires get you some old bald tires and chirp away!

bottom line: there is nothing wrong with your car, its pretty common on most civics (not all) so there is nothing to worry about IMO, the you some suspension goodies and try again if you really want to chirp your tires.

Also, is this a 5-speed or an automatic? Could be with your tranny.
What automatic civic have you ever seen spin it's tires.Especially if it is basically stock, from by the sounds of it,it is.

Ah I remember the good ol' days of trying to lay a patch. I'd get the same results too until I became a better driver and added some goodies. My JimFab traction bar was a nice investment. It didn't eliminate wheel hop, but it did minimize it.

I stopped trying to burn rubber on the streets when I cracked my pressure plate in 3 different spots in my driveway. Best thing is, I got it on tape, and still have the pressure plate. I'm gonna get that framed one day

I had a dx hatch...I spun the tires on numerous occasions...and it wasn't wet outside, not much, but they spun. I did a serious burnout in it one time and my car smelled like burnt rubber for 3 days. Granted I had 3 people holding my car back to get it started, but it was fun.

maybe you and the bf left an old condom in the back of the car on a hot day! Those are made of rubber you know.

and why are you trying to burnout? Especially if you have to have 3 of your girlfriends holding your car down.
