Hey all... long time no visit. I had parked my vic about a year ago to pursue some other hobbies. Well I am now my son and i decided to get back on it so he could drive it. Well it is leaking whater from the driver side of the engine it is fine for a few and then once it warms up it startes leaking and high / low idling. I am not sure if this is a head gasket or if i broke something else. I am thinking that it started on my drive from portland to boise last year before i parked it. It started getting real hot and it was late and i was miles from a place to stop for water. so yeah it got real hot. peging the "i'm going to explode" line.

it is a d15b7 w/ header. nothing fancy.

can anyone tell me if it sounds like i blew up the motor or the head gasket. i am thinking about fixing it myself if it is the head gasket but if i blew up the motor... oh darn gotta tell the wife i need a b18. I am not thinking that the engine blew because it will start right up every time but once warm the idle goes all crazy and the water pours out.

anyway... thanks in advance.

Oh and to all those involved... the site looks real good. I haven't been here for about a year now.

put it up on jackstands or ramps and try to find the source of the leak. this is head gasket 101, but does your car emit white smoke from your exhaust?

Deff try to locate the exact source of the leak. is it the extreme far driver's side or like behind the motor more towards the drivers side.

Your water pump is on the drivers end side of the motor but there are some coolant lines behind the motor so if you see the leak on the ground it could be from anything. If you see it litterally squirting out the side of the motor it could be something more serious.

Find the location is first.

No it does not emit white smoke. that is why i am confused. i will check it again this evening but i don't remember seeing white smoke. I will get it up on jack stands later and try to get a good pic of the leaking area and post it up.

it seemed to be leaking from the side not behind it. i can see about where the leak is but cannot isolate the actual source. i will check the water pump also.

as per usual you guys rock. thanks for the replies. i will check more this evening.

thanks.

if its coming from the front of the motor(which is on the drivers side...) then its most likely the waterpump...they have a little hole in them that starts to leak water when they are going out...then they start leaking a little more...and a little more, and it just gets worse. best bet...pull the timing cover and look at the water pump...thats what i would do.

thanks guys.

i think it may be the water pump. i did get some pictures of it but did not have time to get them posted up last night. i will do so tonight.

i have a change of plans with the car now. I am putting it up for sale. i got my sons report card yesterday and let's just say he won't be getting the car.

obviously i want to fix it before i get rid of it... so i will post the pictures up tonight.

so if anyone is looking for a 95 shaved (shaved handles, inner tails, side bumper mouldings, roof gutters), slammed (i would say lowered but it is tuckin too much tire) 5th gen sedan let me know. it will be cheap.

i will post it up for sale in another post.

yeah... ummm... no.

it's a pretty tough looking car with how low it sits and all the body work. it's not over the top. all blacked out accept for the headlights and tails. no schrom accept for the 17" wheels. it is almost ready for paint and it has a 6th gen dash and console pieces.

not thinking the 500 bucks will be enough. thanks though.
