Well I got a 94 Civic LX that had a blown headgasket. I took the head to a machine shop to see if it isn't warped. It turns out the head is ok. So I replace the headgasket, timing belt, and water pump since everything is apart. I've got everything back together and torqued the head. Now heres where it gets confusing. The car cranks and turns over, but it won't completely run. 1st) I've found out the cam gear wasn't lined UP. Fixed that. 2nd) I lined the crank pulley to TDC. Fixed that. Still it cranks and turns over, still not completely running. Now I'm confused. Doubled checked everything. I got spark and fuel. What can be wrong or what did I do wrong?

heres there part where i think you confused me...you need to line up tdc on the crank, and the cam gears at the same time. check if you crossed the tps and map sensor.

yeah check your timing again, put the number 1 cyl at TDC, look at the dizzy and make sure teh rotor is pointing to #1. Set the cams so that (UP) is up and the side lines line up, the easest way is to put a 5mm punch in the whole in the cam i don't know if it's like that on SOHC's but works get on DOHC. finally make sure you ahve the ing. wires running ot the right locations.

Your saying if starts, but it doesn't run? When does it shut off? What are you doing when it does that? Does it idle funny? Did you use the OEM gasket? Give us some more info.

definately need more info to help you on this. What motor in your 94 Lx? that would be a start. If the motors cranking and not catching theres a couple of things to put your attention. One as stated before by your fellow brethern is to make sure timing is correct. DOHC is a little differant but your SOHC if its 1 tooth off thats almost 22* (degrees) off. it should /could still run just rather poorly. a 5mm punch will work well but i like to find a use for all those 1/4 extensions i have that are 14" or longer....lol pull the timming belt off the cam gear and bring #1 piston to TDC. if you have a screwdriver or a 14" 1/4 extension, or 5mm punch you can use them to find exactly where TDC is. then once you give us the motor we'll be able to tell you where to line that up at. if this is all correct than the issue lies within the dizzy. |
