I've been looking into getting one being having an automatic causes my vtec level to be engage @5500 rpm.. My own fault for owning an automatic I know but I just a few questions that you guys can help me with.

Does a vtec controller greatly help?

Esp on using one with an auto tranny?

And what Im most concerned with is would this benefit, or conflict with using nitrous?

I'm just tossing the idea around being I'm going to the track more often now, and could I use it when I go with a gsr motor in the ever so near future.

I would have posted in Sieges thread but my questions differed a bit more.

vtec controllers = bad...when you use a vtec controller they crossover physically on the motor....but the ecu doesnt know its crossed over, therefore not switching the timing and fuel maps to the vtec side. just my personaly opinion...i wouldnt use one.

ok thanks for clarifying that. I know of a few people that are using them in preludes but this was the first I heard of that happening.

With the timing and fuel maps on the vtec side what is the result of them not being switched? and for the most part if your only using it for track purposes, how long would you be able to get by on one?

I can see a cheaper one crapping your car out, but apexi makes high quality product.. any shortcuts past this hapening?

I DUG THIS UP ON APEXI.COM

New Features Include:

- New case design with center push button and rotating outer switch
- VTEC engagement control from 3000-7000 RPM in 100 RPM increments
- 12 point fuel control for LOW and HIGH VTEC maps (total of 24 points)- i-VTEC compliant
- Monitor i-VTEC VVT movement in real time
- Password protection
- Red LED light indicated cam switchover point
- EEPROM chip for maximum data storage
- VTEC Match/Unmatch correction for smooth VTEM engagement modification
- Versatile mounting bracket

did they change this model from their older ones, solving that issue?

The thing that I don't like about VTEC controlers,is that you don't really know if the point at which you have it set is more beneficial to your tq curve than the factory point. The only way to tell if moving the engagement point is helpful is to dyno tune it. If your going to spend the money to dyno a VTEC controler you might as well spend the extra and get fuel managment instead. Just my opinion.

Yeah, you'd for sure have to tune it...but you wouldn't gain from it anyways. People who have aftermarket cams gain from altering the VTEC xover, but it's gotta be properly tuned.

If I could save myself a possible half at the track next time, Im all smiles.

I'm at a point now where I just need to swap, but trying research in hopes of finding an interchangable part that will break me out of the 15's range with my current setup.

Right now theres aboulutely no point for me to do any more bolt ons. Thats why I went this direction in my search, since I could use it with my next real big purchase
