ok heres a couple of pics in which the problem exists.. Basicly in neutral and park the car it revs up to about 1500rpm and back down to 700 or so and so on.. Sometimes it tapers off, and sometimes not.

Ive been told to remove the sensor, and spray carburator cleaner inside the screen as its probably clogged causing this to happen. My question is how the hell am i supposed to get the screen off? no screws that I can see.. Is this a twist and turn? I dont wanna break my shit.

as i understand so far, im supposed to get the black piece off and clean.. Let me know if Ive been incorrect info as well..

Its your fast idle valve, not your idle air. underneath the throttle body....take off the throttle body...on the firewall side you will see a brass plate that has 2 8mm screws in it, take off those 2 screws, theres a large white...i dunno what to call it but it looks like a nut...tighten that back down all the way...and reassemble it...and there you go...your prob. will be solved...oh and by the way...DONT take that black peice off the back of the idle air...major air leaks will develope if you do that..

happens a lot...on obd1 cars...once you fix it up...it should be good for a long period of time.

Wouldn't that only cause the idle problem when the motor is cold? Or does it back itself out creating a continuous leak?

ok ive been driving my car since the post and its been slowly going away but im gonna attempt the fix tomorrow with a friend. Only probem is neither of us know where the Idle screw is once the TB is removed.. I checked all over online but came up with nothing.. After removing those 2 screws im lost.. can you point it out to me..

and also, when I did my intake manifold in the past and put the stock one back the TB gasket wasnt changed (only the manifold gasket).. Could this be the problem at hand also?

i doubt it, unless you tore the TB gasket..they generally dont leak...ive re-used mine 3 or 4 times.
