a friend of mine from work offered me an MSD 6A ignition for 20 bucks, so i figured what the hell and bought it. it looks to be n good condition so im gonna give it a shot. my main worry is this: in a month or so i plan on purchasing a zex dry nitrous kit, and i want to know if using this ignition with a zex kit is ok and wont cause any problems. if it is, i just wont bother puting it in just to take it out again. please help me, so i dont waste my time.

have you tried conacting MSD or ZEX and see what they say, i use a 6 btm and a 75 shot, but i did burn out the clutch, which we think caused the detonation

Detonation could be caused by poor tuning.

we think the clutch may have started the chain reaction that ultimatley led to the detonation i ran the night before and had no problems, but the next night when i launched the clutch would not engage with second and i hit the rev limit which cut fuel but the nitrous kept shooting and that was when i heard the worst sound in the world followed by a loud knocking when the motor was taken apart we found the #3 rod was bent and my vtec rocker shaft was bent.

What size shot are you planning on running?
If your staying at a 50 shot then you will be fine because there is no need to retard timing. Any more thatn this and you will have to retard timing to avoind detonation. This is the first thing that needs addressing and then you can go from there.

hello, i know that i hit the rev limiter, that is what caused the detonation, it was my fault but i should have beefed up the clutch before trying to run nitros. so i guess maybe, just maybe i am trying to warn the guy make sure everything can handle that much boost, ie clutch, tranny...

i def. plan to only run a 50 shot. and i now plan to get a better clutch too. any other suggestions to make the car run better with nitrous? i dont plan on blowing tons of money, but i also dont want to blow anything up.
