Just wondering what you guys think. I'm going to the track
this weekend. Finally. It was redone over the last few months
so it just opened. I'm wondering if i should slap my steelies
with 14 inch all season tread or leave my si rims with the
z rated low pro rubbur on. I was thinking to put the steelies
on and lower the air pressure.

you have steel belted raidals for stock tires.. putting them on and lowering the air pressure wont do a thing except hurt you. The steel belts are the tires support once you lower the pressure you're riding on mostly the belts (on the outsides of the tire) acutally decreasing your tire footprint (available tire thats actually touching the track).

Best bet over all is get some drag radials on some 14's

if you've got z-rated tires on, which are speed rated and will grip, you wouldn't want to change them out to run non-speed rated tires that won't grip. Trust me, I think I'm the only person in the world with a 15+second B16 CRX. issed:" class="inlineimg" /> damn all season tires!

I love my BFG drag radials. Think i paid about $230 mounted and balanced for them for 14's from a local tire shop here.

slicks would of course be your best bet, but a pair of falken azinis or similar tire would work well too and they're cheap. for this first time though go w/ the 15's.

more sidewall will always help you, whether your on radials or not...low pro tires generally have a stiffer sidewall than even a standard tire. Id go with the 14;s with a set of 60 series tires...more side wall=more flex...its exactly what we do with slicks. id never run a low pro tire to drag race.
I dont know why everyone thinks Falkens Azenis are soooo good...they are a damn road race tire...extremely hard sidewall(reduces roll over while cornering) Does not help you in a drag race...it actually hurts you. I hook better on a set of 14" steelies with 60 series costco tires, than i do on my fat 5's with azenis.

Maybe I'll bring the 14's too.

I think he knows that drag tires would be best, what he was asking is which of the 2 sets of wheels/tires that he has would be better to run at the track, and the answer to that question is the 15's.
