Thumbs up

One of my good friends bought a BRAND NEW clutch off of ebay for his 2.5RS. he had his car towed to the subaru dealership because they were the only ones that could really do it. $580 to do the installation including resurfaceing the flywheel, and a new throwout bearing.

at the end of the week (this went down last week) they call him and say they installed it and it wont go into 1st or reverse, but it will go into 2nd-4th gear. they say that it is his pressure plate is the problem and that he bought a clutch with the wrong pressure plate. they will fix the problem if he gets a new pressure plate for another $500. he is a little upset about this. issed:" class="inlineimg" /> issed:" class="inlineimg" /> issed:" class="inlineimg" /> issed:" class="inlineimg" /> issed:" class="inlineimg" />

so my question is, could the clutch have been installed wrong? the springs on the clutch be too tight, or is it the pressure plate? if it is the wrong pressure plate couldnt the person who worked on it have been able to notice the difference?
if its not the pressure plate than what could be the problem??????

we need help, if anyone knows pleas let me know.

matt

Well first of all, he bought if off ebay...probably from a 3rd party vendor, and not clutchnet. It's very possible that he was shipped a bunk clutch...I doubt the dealership botched the install. This is exactly why I buy parts from reputable shops/people and do my own work.
